Oct 15, 2014 6:29 AM

The Royals are looking for a top-of-the-rotation starter and have checked on the availability of James Shields, Jon Lester and R.A. Dickey.

Kansas City has a number of young players that would interest the Rays, Red Sox and Mets, respectively, but they aren't willing to part with young catcher Salvador Perez or top outfield prospect Wil Myers.

"Our rotation is going to better, but we're still looking for the opportunity to improve on what we've done," Dayton Moore said.

The Royals have already added Ervin Santana and Jeremy Guthrie to their rotation this winter.

Rockies Not Shopping Fowler, But Could Listen

Nov 25, 2014 4:11 AM

The Rockies aren't shopping Dexter Fowler, but they would listen to offers with a number of contending teams in the market for a center fielder.

Fowler made just $2.35 million last year and is arbitration-eligible for two more years.

The market for Fowler will likely increase once free agents Michael Bourn and B.J. Upton sign with teams, leaving suitors with a hole in their lineup.

To deal Fowler, the Rockies will have to receive pitching as part of the package.

Napoli, who is seeking a four-year deal, has also spoken to the Mariners and Rangers.
